“The world before us is a postcard, and I imagine the story we are writing on it.” - Mary E. Pearson, The Miles Between

In the bygone era when web communication wasn’t even in the remotest imagination of the common folk, Postcards came into existence and became the most preferred medium of written communication. Now, in today’s world, when we’re moving away from paper to embrace everything digital, postcards have also undergone a radical change. However, their real purpose is still not redundant.

You’ll agree that Adobe Illustrator empowers designers to create illustrations that speak louder than words. Creating a postcard using Adobe Illustrator is a really delightful and fun-filled experience.

Have you designed a postcard or an envelope using Adobe Illustrator? If not, then it’s time you let your creative juices flow.

And, as you come up with amazing artwork in the form of a postcard or an envelope, share your stories, creative ideas, tips, tricks, shortcuts, best practices, and anything you find worth sharing with fellow illustrators. We’ll feature some of the best shares on our social media channels with proper credit, and of course, after your consent.

Time to make this space vibrant, inspiring, and beaming with creativity. Let’s go!

Here are some sample templates you can start with- https://adobe.ly/2KbbP6a

Most important thing is a stamp. I always carry some with me in order to be able to send a postcard any time I want to. And I send a minimum of 3 of postcards any time I'm on the road.

So there you go:

Start with a shape. Might be a rectangle, but there are other stamp shapes as well. Use the appearance panel for the following steps.

Set the stroke to dashed and then enter 0 for dash and a value higher than the stroke width for the gap. Such as this:

Set the stroke's opactiy to 0% in the appearance panel. The stroke will vanish

Set the object's transparency options to "knockout group". If this still doesn't look correctly, go to View > Preview on CPU
