Relink Embedded Image but keep Scale the Same?

I am trying to link and embedded image but every time I do it, the scale is wrong. I need image to be linked but show up in EXACTLY the same spot and dimension as the embedded image.

Please help! I can't find anywhere online that has the answer!!

Thanks for reaching out. At my end, with Adobe Illustrator version 27.9, I'm not experiencing any issues with scale when relinking embedded images. It seems to be working as expected.

Carl mentioned this problem back in 2019, and since then, there have been several updates and improvements to Illustrator. It would be helpful if you could provide the following information:

The version of Adobe Illustrator & OS
A screen recording demonstrating of the issue when relinking embedded images, highlighting any scaling problems.

With this information, I will be able to provide more targeted solutions or guidance to help resolve the problem.

Remember that the scale is set by the source file. So if you are replacing Image1 with Image2 but they are different pixel height and width, the percentage (scale) will be different.
