Remove filling phantom squares

How to remove the squares that shows in outline mode? It's fine in preview mode but I can see them in outline mode and it's a problem when using a cutting plotter.

Looks like clipping masks after opening a pdf.

Try to set yor fill and stroke to none when nothing ids selected.

Choose Select > Same > Fill & Stroke

Delete the selection and check if everything is still there.

Did you import a PDF or use the Repeat function?

You could select one of them in ourline mode with the direct selection tool. Then Select > Same > Fill & Stroke.

Then delete.

 

They might be clipping mask and then everything falls apart.
