Hello Team,

I would like to ask if their are any other efficient options aside from 'Image Trace' to remove the blue 'x' that shows up and covers the image once I 'Place' the file onto a new document?

Correct answer Ton Frederiks

Hello Monika and Tom,

the image attached was added to the new document using the followowing steps -  File<New <Place. I want to modify the image. the only way i know to begin to modify the image is by tracing it. i am curious to know if there is a more efficient way to edit the imaged placed on the new document aside from 'Image Trace'?

@Ton Frederiks clicking outside to deselect it does not allow for the image to be edited.

@Monika Gause i want to modify the image and save as a new version of the original.

Apologies if i am complicating the conversation!

If you want to modify the linked image, select it and in the Links panel,  click the Edit in Photoshop icon, or in the Properties panel click Edit Original.

Good to hear you got it.

Click outside it to deselect it. The blue cross only shows when a linked image is selected.

Or embed the image to get rid of the cross.

Thank you both.  When i embed the image, it appears to no longer be editable. Are their other options to aside from 'Image Trace' to remove the blue 'x' to edit the image once I 'Place' the file onto a new document?

What is the goal of this?

You just don't want to see it?

The x is just part of the markings that are invisible when printing. It shows you that the image is linked. You could embed the image, then there is no x.

Or you could hide bounding box resp. edges.
