Question

Removing The White Artboard without Using the Transparency Grid.

I want to work on my vector with only the grey background. The transparency grid hurts my eyes having to view this for a long period of time. I rather just have the grey back ground. I know I could simply move the vector above the artboard, but is there a way to simply remove it? Thanks

File >> Docuemnt Setup

Turn on simulate colored paper, and set set top color square to what you want.  The other color is for tranparency

This si an old feature so there is a bug. You need to hit Shift Command D twice to refresh this to get to work.

You can create a large artboard, create a layer at the bottom, fill it with a large rectangle with the color you like and lock the layer.

You can try squeezing the artboard down to a small area and lock layer 1. Then add a new layer and do  your work there.
