Replacing multiple linked images (not possible since v26?)

We use Illustrator for printing purposes and often we will set up "templates" that have multiple items, all of the same size. Back in version 26 I could select multiple links in the links panel and click on "Relink" and this would queue up a whole bunch of prompts so I could replace each linked image with anything I liked. Now it seems I have to go in and do this 1 link at a time. Not only does this take much, much longer to do, it also seems to perform this action way slower than it used to.

If I have a 4'x8' sheet with say, 10-20 linked images... how can I do the following:

A) Replace all links with a new image without doing them 1 at a time, or deleting and re-stepping them out.

B) Replace "some" of the links with one image, and the rest of the links with another image.

The changes surrounding links have drastically slowed down our production pipeline due to having to spend hours on this, instead of minutes. Please advise.
