Replicating the Herbal Essences logo. (Clipping mask help)

I'm attempting to recreate Herbal Essences logo as an excercise. I made a clipping mask with the circle in the center but the entire flower is inside in the shape of circle. How do I replicate the way the flower petals go past the circle creating a 3D effect, while the bottom half of the stem is perfectly inside the circle.
