Resizing an object

Hi! I've been having an issue with resizing options. The bound box appears, but when I go to the corners none of the movement or resizing arrows appear. I'll instead just go the corner of the bounding box, click to try and resize, and get no response.

Please help!!

What happens if you quit Illustrator and reboot your computer?

It may be called an old-fashioned way, but I think it is still a useful habit to shut down computers at least once a day.
