Retaining metadata in .ai file when uploaded to Sharepoint

I am looking for a solution for retaining the metadata in the .ai file when it is uploaded to Sharepoint. We are attempting to create a graphics library, we have the metadata for the images in the files, however, when the .ai files are uploaded to Sharepoint (you can preview the file in Sharepoint), the metadata is not retained.

Is this a Microsoft issue? Is there a way to go about this that other's have found that worked?

I have tried in both classic and the version currently running to no success.

Yes, the metadata can be added after, but with multiple artists and a magnitude of graphics, it would be easier to upload an entire folder at once and have it be retained.

Check out Explorer (linkhttps://www.slimapplications.com/product/explorer/ ). This is an app that can extract properties from a wide range of files (pdf, office, jpg, heic, dwg, dng, ...) during uploading. It can also be used for extracting properties from ai files.
