Question

Right Alt Key

I am using my own custom Dvorak keyboard layout. On my laptop, the 5, 6, and comma keys no longer work when pressed. I have been using a workaround by using the right alt key, and assigning the character to an adjacent key. I'm trying to type something in Illustrator, but when I press down my usual key combo, it does not work. I can only assume there is a shortcut conflict maybe, but I'm not sure which one. Apparently I am not the only person with this issue, but there doesn't seem to be a solution. It's not like I can go insert a symbol *every time* I need to input a comma! The only other Adobe product I have, is Acrobat Pro XI and it works just fine there, as well as everywhere else on my PC. Using Windows 7 64 bit.

How do I fix this? Is there even a way? Or do I have to potentially get rid of *every* shortcut that uses the alt key. Because it doesn't seem the program knows the difference between left and right alt like other programs do.

Also, the rightalt+shift doesn't work all too well either. Out of about 10 presses some only worked once.

Hi there,

We are extremely sorry about this issue. This has been reported by other users as well and our engineering team is already looking into it. I would request if you can upvote this issue here: AltGr key not working – Adobe Illustrator Feedback and stay tuned for updates. This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.
