Rubber Band enabled but not showing

I have my rubber band feature enabled for my pen tool, but the lines aren't showing. I prefer to see them and it's driving me nuts not having it. I've only found 1 forum post about this and she said it just started working so there was no solution to it.

    After writing this post, I went back and it was working. So strange! Still would like to know if there is a reason for this for future use.
