Same stroke setting but the stroke width display different between the two shape

This happened to me after I use a Pathfinder tool: Divide. The stroke setting of both 2 paths (the inner circle) was: "1 pt", "align stroke to center".

My solution to this problem is:

Change the stroke setting of the selected path (blue line) to "align stroke to outside" > Extend appearance > Ungroup > Select outline path and delete > Select the other path after "extend appearance" > Change the stroke setting to: "1 pt", "align stroke to center".

This worked! They have had the same stroke display on the screen. However, I want to understand what could be the reason for the different display after using "Divide" (Pathfinder).

Thank you.

Sounds like you have an appearance attribute that is fouling this up. Could be at the group or path level. Would be best to have a copy of the file.

Select all

appearance flyout >> clear appearance

recolor everything

Yes, you right. I checked out the Appearance panel and see the difference between these two paths.

So I change from this:

To this:

And it solves the problem.

Thank you a lot!

Impossible to tell without seeing the file (before pathfinder)

Thank you for your suggestion. I will provide more steps in the pictures below.

1. Create two circulated compound paths with "Ellipse" and "Line".

2. Extend the lines and make them to a shape with "Pen tool".

3. Divide (Pathfinder tool) with two selected paths: The inner circle compound path and the extended-from-line path.

 ----Divide>--->

 -----Ungroup and recolor---->

I will zoom in to see the difference:

And the stroke setting is:

But when I change the stroke setting: ("Align stroke to center" --> "Align stroke to outside")

Now they can look the same:

But this setting does not create a desirable outcome that I want to achieve.

Overall, the stroke in the blue path cannot be seen on the inside.
