"Save as Copy"?

I'm still playing with scripting in illustrator, and I was hoping there was a way to effectively emulate the "File > Save a Copy" command. Right now, all I can figure out how to do is "save as".

there's no Save as Copy,

you need to save the file, do a save as, then you need to close the saved as file and open the original file

or

save the file, then make a copy of the file via File Object.

Bummer.

Yeah, right now, to accomplish what I'm looking for, I'm copying everything to a new document, saving that document, then closing it. Just seemed a bit overkill (and kinda slow).

Thanks!

second option would be the fastest, in either case the original file needs to be saved before making the copy.

Just save to another folder or with a new name.

Right, but then my current (active) document has the new path/name. I want to save a new copy, but continue on like it never happened.
