Question

Save As window disappears when saving

Every now and then, at least once a week, when I am working in illustrator, I will go to SAVE AS or EXPORT (anything that requires opening a new window) and the window will open but then disappear into the background. It's nowhere to be found but I can see it pop-up but then disappear. Then I can't do anything, not even close the program.  If I hit ESC a bunch of times it'll eventually work, and I can keep working but that's it. I eventually have to open my task manager to force quit. Why is this happening?

Have you ever had another monitor hooked up to your system? It may be that the dialogue box is placed on a portion of the screen that is not visible on the current view. The fact that the escape key dismisses the dialogue eventually is a clue.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. This is not the expected behavior. Save As window should not go in the background. Please share version of OS and Illustrator.

Also, try resetting the preferences once please. Follow instructions provided on help article https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html#setting_illustrator_preferences

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
