I'm  missing the "Save for Microsoft Office" choice under File in Adobe Illustrator. Does anybody know what I can do to fix that?

This option is long gone.

It just exported a non-transparent PNG at 150 ppi.

You can do the same via File > Export > Export as

Personally, I find exporting as EPS works great if I just need to pop something into a document without messing with it much. It keeps all those vectors intact and usually looks clean when I paste it into Word. Plus, it's pretty easy to resize without things getting blurry.
