Question

Saving as optimum print quality

Can you help me? I saved a file and it gave me the option to save as a high quality print file or something like that. And now I can't find it.
I would like to save my file in the best quality for the professional printers when I get it printed.
Love AI by the way.

Michael,

In addition to what Mylenium said, be cautious when you save as PDF. If you just use Save As and specify PDF, you can end up losing your original AI document.

The safe(st) way is to Save a Copy and then specify PDF.

Michael,

To follow up on for the professional printers when I get it printed, it is always suggested to ask the printers how they want/need it.

Apart from that, there is also PS as the native/obvious one for raster artwork; AI and PS are very different, so many find it difficult to start using one when knowing the other. There is a certain overlap.

And there is ID, as the obvious one for wordy tasks/books, also with a (different) overlap where the suitable choice of (final) application depends on the predominant composition.

That would indicate you used a PDF preset. Hence you would need to save as PDF again to make these options available.
