Saving new file VS overwrite

Hello,

I have the lastest version of illustrator. But I realised that when I save my file, it doesn't save unless I save as a new file.

Why and how can I fix this?

Thanks for your help.

It worked fine for years under windows 10, and I just switched the windows 11 with a new computer. Could that be the source of the problem?
Somethign else that is weird, in the preview pannel in illustrator, before opening any file, I can see the preview of the file with all the lastest change I have saved using ''save'', but then I open the file, it's just like when I opened it before....

That's a sign that your files aren't saving completely. Don't save to a network. It can work and then suddenly not. And also you might want to turn off "Save in background" in the preferences

Where do you save? Local, like desktop or a cloud synced folder or server?

I save it on my personal server, a WD Home Cloud Duo. It works like a regulard local disk. I've never had this issue, altought I just changed my computer...

Illustrator does not support saving to a server. It may work, but the safe way is to save local and when finished, copy to a server,
