Saving PDF For Print Creating Large File Size

Hello, I'm still fairly new ( a few months) into learning illustrator. I create printable pdf's for customers to download and print. I've ran into a few files that come out way to large. Ex. I created inserts that has images & texts, when I save as pdf, it's showing about 50mb (for a 3.75x2.25 card). So that's already large. I'm trying to "place" these cards onto a 8.5x11 sheets, so they can have multiples printed on one sheet. Again, when I save this it's large. I tried to reduce the file size down to 20mb, where I need it to be. But no program is doing it that I've tried.

After multiple searches, It seems I have to change something from where I created this. Again I've tried multiple ways to try to make this smaller in illustrator. (based again on searches)  I know I missing something. Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this! Thanks

Hi,

Can you indicate the source of the images you are using and the settings you select.

Often, it is images with a high level of pixels (dpi) that are causing the file to grow out of control in size.

In order to print you only need 300 dpi. It is possible that by 'squeezing' images in a smaller space than they are designed for it raises the file size.
