Scatter brush align ends of objects to the path?

I'm trying to create a Scatter Brush so I can add a repeating geometric fish pattern to a series of curved lines. I want the fish to touch end to end, but instead the centre of the fish sits on the path, and the ends of the fish don't line up. I can see why this is happening, but I need to find a way around it. Can anyone help me? Are there some brush options I can use, or can anyone suggest another way to go about this?
