Seamless pattern that doesn't fit in a square artboard

Hi,

Yes, I am a newbie to AI. I am a textile pattern designer and I had been using PS until now.

In AICC, I need to create a seamless pattern that doesn't fit fit in a square artboard as it has geometric lines to it. I have tried to search for YouTube videos but they are too simple for my need.

Any ideas ? !

Patterns are independent of artboards.

Yes those patterns in those tutorials are simple. But maybe you want to start with simple ones in order to learn it.

Yes, what Monika said. Any pattern whose dimensions are not whole number divisors of the square's dimensions will not fit the square. Any pattern can be resized, if necessary, to match these criteria.
