How can I select just the leaf if it was a vecoor created without groups...

Correct answer Monika Gause

Before downloading you cannot know that.

If an image looks like the one you have, then it's likely not grouped, because it likely has been autotraced.

Hi @hendy_5450.

@Monika Gause has great ideas to try! Something else you can try is using the process of elimination. If it's a central leaf that you want to select/keep, try hiding (apple/command + 3 on a Mac) or even deleting everything around the leaf.

Something else that could help, alongside the above method, is Select > Same > Fill Colour and either lock (apple/command + 2) it or hide those objects, one colour at a time.

Finally, when you unlock or unhide everything, they will all appear selected. Before deselecting, you can then group them, or Copy + Cut + Paste In Front (apple/command C + apple/command X + apple/command F) into a new layer to keep these objects separated, but still in the same position on the artboard. Keep in mind, when grouping objects, some objects in behind may join objects in the front, which can affect the appearance of the image.

Good luck with that.

Really.

Is this autotraced? Did you check "Group" before expanding it? Then you might be a little lucky and probably have it grouped at least somewhat sensibly.

If there is no structure in it, you will need to first select the things that belong to together and group them. The lasso tool might or might not help. The magic wand might or might not help.

It will get finicky.
