Hello,

i was wondering if there is a way to select 2 or more objects when recording actions in Illustrator. I know how to select a specific object using "select object" in actions menu, but that way i can select one or the other. Is there a way to do it without scripting?

Can you clarify a bit? As per your description I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. Please describe in detail.

Also, which version of Illustrator are you using?

Sorry if I hadn't been specific enough, I'll try to explain it better. What Im trying to do is make a series of Illustrator recordable actions to automatize the process i illustrated below. I need to take object A, make a copy of it and move that copy above object B to make it a mask for a copy of object B (i want a copy of object B to be in a shape of object A), and then move that masked object (C) into new position. I can do everything up to the step of selecting both objects to make a mask. I can select one or the other with Illustrator Actions. I tried to do it like JETalmage sugested but I can't record that process, I would have to do it manually every time instead of just push the play button on the recorded process to make it 100% automated, and thats what I'm trying to achieve. I'm using Adobe Illustrator CC 2017.

Select both.

Select Menu>Save Selection. (Name the selection.)

In the Action use the Insert Menu Item step to select the named selection.

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately i would still need to select those items manually and name them every time i play the action i previously created. Is there a way to automatize this proces so no manual selection or typing would be necessary each and every time?
