Hello!

I'm new to AI.

I have an AI file created by a graphic designer that I want to  use one object from.  The file has about 4+ objects.  How can I pull from this file just the one object (shape) that I want?

Thank you!

NewAEUser,

It is far better to keep all objects as vector artwork and just copy and paste them into the one document.

Hello @NewAEUser,

I hope Monika's suggestions helped with your workflow. If you need to directly export that asset you can also try right-clicking on that object and choosing the option for Collect for Export > As Single Asset and then choosing the format you want to export as (https://adobe.ly/3FLjo17).

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Hello Anubhav,

Is the simpliest way to combine images from different AI files to:

  • Export some objects as PNG
  • Combine all of the images in one AI file

Thank you!

You can just select it with the selection tool and then copy and paste into a new file

It will get more complicated when the element consists of multiple paths that are not grouped. A screenshot of your situation would help.
