shape preview already filled in but I want it do be transparent

When i'm drawing a shape, the preview of what i'm drawing is already filled in.

How do i change it so my previeuw is transparent

Perhaps you are looking for something different, but in case you are using a recent version of Illustrator you may go to the Illustrator Preferences > Performance and turn off the option called "Real-Time Drawing and Editing".

 

Alternatively, you could turn on CPU preview in the View menu (instead of GPU preview).

Change the selected fill color in the pallet to be none.
