Shapes suddenly became jagged and misshapen

Hello!

Wondering if anyone could help me out or has had a similar issue - I have saved this page of artwork numerous times but when I reopened it today all of the lines have new random harsh anchor points. There's a lot of artwork on this file and it has happened to every shape. I dont want to just use the smooth tool as that won't take it back to what it originally was, and would take forever.
Please see screenshot for what I'm dealing with.

Don't save as SVG but use the Illustrator file format when editing.

SVG has options to make the file smaller like using a limited number of decimals. That will reduce anchor points but make it less accurate.

Ah I see, thank you! I have resaved it as an ai file and reopened, however the damage has been done - I don't suppose there is any way to undo it?

Unfortunately the damage cannot be undone unless you have backups/versions.
