Question

share for review link

Hi all,

I’m having ongoing issues with Illustrator’s Share for Review links and I’m wondering if anyone else is seeing the same behaviour.

What happens:

  1. I create a new file, then go to Share for Review and generate a link.

  2. Illustrator keeps pulling through filenames from previous jobs, even when I’m in a brand new file.

  3. To fix it, I end up removing the review link, creating a new one, or sometimes starting a completely new file from scratch.

  4. I send the review link to the client, but when they open it, it sometimes shows a completely different review link, like it has connected to another project.

  5. Comments then do not always appear properly inside Illustrator, so I have to review feedback in the web browser instead.

The weird part:
It feels like Illustrator is caching old Share for Review data and mixing it across multiple projects. It even pulls through project names from 3 or 4 jobs ago.

What I’ve tried:

  • Closing and reopening Illustrator

  • Resetting and restarting

  • Running updates

Still happening.

Questions:

  • Is anyone else getting this issue?

  • Is there a known fix or setting to stop Share for Review from reusing old filenames/links?

  • Any reliable workflow to avoid creating brand new review links every single time?

Thanks in advance. This is turning into a time sink.

@studiovine I just tried, and had no issues. I have no other Illustrator document open, and even tried with others open, just in case to see if I get the same results. No issues.

I would clear your Illustrator Preferences. If you open your Illustrator Preferences (Command K for the MAC) or Control K (for the PC) — there should be a button that says ‘reset preferences’. Go ahead and click on that. It will reset everything back to it’s default just as you brand new Illustrator so any custom set-ups will be gone (save that if you do to save some time setting up).

Hang on, are you using Illustrator on the Web? If so, I would also clear the history, cache and cookies  in your web browser, as you mentioned ‘caching old share for review’

If you are not on the web, I would clear the cache of Adobe Illustrator. You may need to enter ‘cache’ on a PC, but on a MAC, it’s Library/Caches/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator

    good Luck!

Hello, thanks, i reset all the preferences and still the same, if you see the screenshot shows a different file name, should be 14615 but its caching or going to another file. I then opened another and its doing the same the share link is opening to another file

@studiovine whoa…. are those folders on your desktop? Keep the actual files and folders in "Documents" and just put a Shortcut (Alias) on the Desktop. If your profile gets corrupted and locks you out, recovering those files from the Desktop is a headache; they’re essentially "trapped" inside that broken account...always save to her hard drive.

Actually move that folder 14615 to your hard drive, and share it again, if that changes it?
