Question

Show Linked PDF/Image Frame?

Hello everyone,

I am currently arranging a print that has multiple PDFs and images. I need certain things to be aligned, etc, and so the displaying the edges or boundary boxes of these linked media is a must. I was not able to find the option to display these...

Edit: It would also be very helpful if the text frames of the text boxes was permanently displayed.

Thanks for any help

Shynn

Command Y to go to outline view, and the edges will show for all items.

In preview mode, you have to select  items to show the edges. For images  select the names in the links palette, and then click go to link.

In preview mode, I  recommend turning on smart guides, and you will see snapping points appear as you move objects

Okay thanks for confirming that AI should not be used to create prints, instead I should be using Indesign it seems.

    Hey Shyn,

I did not confirm that at all. Both InDesign & Illustrator are sufficient for creating prints, and both excel at aligning and I recommend reading up on aligning to key objects.

Don't give up so easily you might find that you like outline mode, which indesign does not have.
