Question

"Simulate Colored Paper" issues

I'm not a daily user of Adobe Illustrator so I'm not that experienced. I mainly create logos to use for screenprinting and embroidery projects. To do this I use Simulate Colored Paper to represent the garment color. I've recently started having the issue where AI changes the color of my imported logo to whatever my simulated page color is. For instance, I have a white logo that I can't see unless I simulate the page color. As soon as I change the page color, the white logo I imported changes to the same simulated page color.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Steve357055295i4z,

I usually just create a coloured layer in behind the logo as @Ton Frederiks mentioned; however, I tried the "simulate page color" with a white pdf logo that I had dragged in from my finder (not embedded, and then embedded), and didn't have a problem changing the artboard colour. The logo stayed white even with the colour change. Are you able to screenshot your settings? What is the file format of the imported logo?

Overprint Preview and Export to jpeg will show th problem. But yes, initially it shows as white on a colored background, which it should not do unless you have a white Spot ink.

Yes, white is assumed the paper color and not an ink. As soon as you change the paper color, your white will change too.

It will be easier to create a layer below your artwork and create a rectangle with the garment color. Set the layer to non print.
