skew stuff

I noticed that when ever I make a square or other angled shape, they're not straight. I can't even get them to become straight. so long story short I got rid of all backgrounds and put on the grid tool" and wouldn't you know it the whole thing is skew. WHY, WHY IS UiT SKEW. I can't figure it out?
