Smart Guides question

I know I can toggle smart guides on and off with Command + U, but I am looking on my screen for an indicator to let me know if they are already on or off without having to drag my cursor around the screen looking for an existing smart guide or center or edge.

So, this is either a question with an answer or a feature request.

Thanks in advance,

MJ

You may also see it in the Properties palette while nothing is selected. There should be a button to indicate if smart guides are turned on or off.

Kurt, I checked the Properties panel...don't see anything that indicates whether Smart Guides are on or off.

Selection tool active, but nothing selected, then you get this:

You can go to View > Smart Guides to check. If there's a checkmark to the left of it in the menu, then it's enabled.

Thanks…I have another graphics program that has small icons in the lower corner that are black when On-Axis, Snap, or Grid is active, or grayed out when inactive. I don’t have to pull down a menu to see if they are on or off. I was looking for something similar in Illustrator’s active screen. Thanks! MJ
