soft white box when exporting artwork with transparent image

I am preparing files for print and the print company requires to use the PDF:X-1a/2001 profile. My Illustrator print file contains multiple layers and images. One of these images has a transparent background (PNG).
When i save the PDF as is, it is perfect
But when i save the PDF with X-1a/2001 profile, i get a soft white boxin the area of the PNG image. I opened the image in Photoshop and it is perfect. How can i fix this?

So you are sure that the clipping has been done precisely?

Then your issue is most probably this one here: https://creativepro.com/eliminating-ydb-yucky-discolored-box-syndrome/

Thanks for your reply. The discolored box link you gave refers to Indesign. I am in Illustrator.

But i think i found a way:

- Illustrator - Save as PDF - Standard None

- Acrobat - Preflight - PDF/X - Convert to PDF/X-1a - Save to new file.
The resulting file is PDF/X-1a compliant + the dreaded box is gone 🙂

I know. The problem is the same.
