Some non adobe fonts not showing up in Illustrator

I purchased some fonts and they are installed and verified on my MAC in Fontbook. Other programs use them just fine (including Photoshop) but they don't even show up in Illustrator. I have quit and restarted both Illustrator and my computer several times and uninstalled and re installed Illustraotor. Any advice for this?
