Star Tool Default Radius Issue

Dear Everyone,
 
I have a student who is finding that when she creates a star, the default is a very low radius. She will change the radius, but when she goes back into the settings, the low radius is back. Specifically, it typically is resorting back to (radius1) at 1.07 in and (radius2) at .0062 in.
 
It's a program error, most likely, right?

The star settings will revert to default when Illustrator is launched. While you're in a session, it will always have the last used settings.

So it may be a preferences file corruption. You could try and reset the prefs. This erases all settings. You could rename the folder as described in here. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html
