Stroke construction showing behind other object

Hello,

I have the "construction" outline of a stroke showing behind an opaque filled object. these objects are on sub-layers.

When I copy and paste in place in a new document it is OK. Is this simply a "bug" or is there some setting/view within the original file that is making this happen?

    There might be an appearance applied to a layer.

    Can you show a screenshot of the layers panel?

    Thank you for your reply - here is the screen shot.

    I opened a brand new file and copied across which solved the problem, which I assume rules out an appearance setting?
