Stroke dashed

Can anyone explain how the calculations for the "dashed" strokes work?

I have separated circles manually with 30 px rectangles but if I use 30 px as the gap this is the result I get:

I  played with the number but the closest I could get was 31 by putting 81 in the gap field

Correct answer Met1

the dash settings don't determine the length of the line, drawing it does, uncheck proportional constrain and just type in 370...

Piter,

When you use Round Cap/Join with no (0) dash you need to add the Stroke Weight to the gap, in this case 50+30 = 80.

Hi Jacob!

I had played a bit with the numbers, but I couldn't get an even result. The total width of the shapes + spaces should be 370 and I get 368.99 as you can see below. I always use round numbers to avoid decimals but somehow they are always there!

Piter,

It depends on the exact total length of the line that you dash.

What happens if you set it to 320?
