Stroke does not follow path border

I applied a inner stroke on a compound path and this is whats happening. The stroke does not follow the path border but does its own thing. Extremely annoying. How can I fix this? 

 

The compound path was made by outlining a text object and then I applied inside stroke.

Can you switch the Preview with Cmd E ?
