Question

Stroke on live text on a curved path drops when exporting in latest illustrator release (29.2.1)

Since the latest update, my files are dropping the stroke when from type that is on a curved path. The elements function as expected initially, but after the file is closed, and then reopened, the stroke drops on export. Doesn't matter which export method used, the result is the same. Happens with all fonts.

(Apologies for the audio. I tried to include narration, but clearly failed. So, skip the first 20 secs.)

I am using Illustrator 29.2.1 on an ASUS ROG laptop running Windows 11 pro.

NOTE: I attempted to submit bug via UserVoice but it will not let me post there for some reason.

Katherine, I see the problem in your example file, but cannot replicate it with new artwork.

Currently using 29.3.1 on a Mac.

I finally figured out why this was happening on some files of mine and not others. If the curved path is ROTATED at all, it exports fine. But if the curved path is NOT ROTATED it drops. See new screen record and sample file attached.

Oops, looks like my sample file didn't attach. It is attached here for real this time.

Please change the file extension from AI to PDF. Then you should be able to attach it here.

Can you share a sample Illustrator file?

Katherine, I tried to replicate your problem, but I could not. I am using a Mac, that may make a difference.

For UserVoice, you need to create a separate account, you cannot use your Adobe ID there unfortunately.

I did create a new account. Not sure why it won't let me post. 🤷‍♀️

There are some things to try, restart your machine, reset preferences (after making a backup of them).
