I'm doing an assigment for a class and i was wondering if i could make certain segments of strokes a different color than the rest of stroke.

I want to Trace that arm but i want a black stroke except for the part that it connects to the main body which is why im wonderingg if i could change the color so it could match up with the main body and seem like it's not there.

From how the artwork looks in the PNG image you uploaded I think it's going to be better to hand trace all the black line work in the comic book character as closed shapes rather than open paths with line strokes (and width profiles) applied to them. Don't draw the black line work as one continuous shape. Instead create different close shape segments as if they were individual ink brush strokes. Then you can color each brush stroke shape as you like.

@Excalus21 so the part where the under-arm? That appears that is a compound path which create holes, cutouts, or intricate patterns within a shape.
