Struggling with .dxf files

I have finally got illustrator to export architectural .pdf files to a .dxf file that doesn't distort or remove the text. I am trying to import the .dxf into another application and it has issues interpreting the file unless the following conditions have been met:

  • All Files must be in a .dxf format
  • All the files that create the sheet need to be in a single file (no reference files).
  • All of the text and all of the dimensions need to be exploded to the point that it is no longer an actual text font just lines and shapes.

The last bullet point is what I am struggling with. Does anyone have any suggestions on settings for this? I really don't want to have to buy an ACAD license to do this.

Hello @Todd36237738o24v,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind confirming the OS/Illustrator version installed, the export settings used, if you've started to encounter this problem after a recent upgrade/change, the application you're trying to import the DXF file into, and a screenshot of the error message so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

The OS is Windows 11 Enterprise build 22631.3958  Adobe Illustrator is version 28.6. The export settings are attached in the .png. The application I am importing into is blue yonder floor planning version 2023.1.0.0

There is no error message on import to blue yonder. It just strips the dxf file if the conditions I stated are not met. I have dealt with this directly with architects providing dxf files. I only have pdf files at this company so they need to be formatted in a certain way (stated in my message).

Thanks for any help!

Hello @Todd36237738o24v,

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind installing a previous version of Illustrator v27 (https://adobe.ly/4dyHTub) and then exporting the DXF from it to check if the problem persists when importing to Blue Yonder?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
