Suggestions for Good Print Result

I am working on a double-sided business card design for the upcoming winter holidays.  The graphical assets were purchased from a site, and I need some suggestions so I can submit this design to be commercially printed.

ISSUE WITH SIDE ONE:
I want the vertical lines to blend into the balls of yarn without any noticeable change of color.  The balls of yarn are made up of various layers consisting of compound paths, as per the initial EPS file that was purchased from a site.  There are various shapes that are filled as gradients with differing amounts of color stops to produce the gradient, and there is an egg shell color that appears ever so slightly between the various different shapes.  Is it possible from taking a look at an image of the design to offer any suggestions as to what I should be altering to accommodate the vertical lines that are supposed to convey that the balls of yarn are hanging ?  If you would need the actual file, let me know.

ISSUE WITH SIDE TWO:
I have a drop shadow on the business name "The Happy Hookster", using an offset position of 0.01 for X and Y along with a blur of 0.01.  If I want the color of the drop shadow to appear with the blur, but look like the darkest red color from the ball of yarn, is this possible, and if so, what color value should I be using for the drop shadow?

When balls of yarn are hanging, then you won't have a curled strand of yarn that goes to the side. It will always hang.

As for #2: Pick up a color from the yarn. Please read the documentation on how to work with the gradient panel and/or the eyedropper tool. You can access the documentation be going to the Help menu in the application. The documentation is searchable.
