svg content visible in Layers panel but not on artboard

strange … I open an .svg file (created in Illustrator) and get this: neat thumbnails of the content in the Layers panel, but nothing visible on the artboard. I'm hoping there's a simple answer, because I don't really want to have to recreate the entire graphic.

Thanks in advance for any hints and tips.

    did you check (by zooming way out) if the content is somewhere far outside the artboard?

    Now there's a nifty idea … thanks! I'll bear it mind next time I hit the problem. Of course, going back to the problem file today is not longer demonstrating this strange behaviour ;-}
