Swatch pattern in my CAD reduces scale when I copy and paste it into another illustrator document. Sometimes the actual CAD itself will also shrink. How do I stop this from happening?

When I copy and paste my CAD/shape from one illustrator document to another, the scale of the swatch pattern in the CAD/shape gets smaller.

I have checked the document settings and everything seems to be the same.

What could be causing this?

I’m experiencing the same issue following the latest Illustrator update. This does not appear to be related to artboard sizing—the behavior began immediately after updating. I’ve attached examples showing the artwork before and after being copied into a new document.

I had no issues before installing the update 8 days ago. The problem occurs when artwork is created in one document and then copied/pasted into a new document—the printed output is consistently scaled down compared to the original.

This points to a potential bug affecting scaling, document units, or transformation data between documents introduced in the update.

It has now been 26 days since Adobe acknowledged the issue and said they would investigate, but the problem remains unresolved. This is an absolute nightmare. Having to work around this, as it becomes time-consuming, and having to rework print scale/sizing. Please resolve soon…

Literally this is so annoying. Ive been experiencing this for atleast a month and have been monitoring this thread for any solutions. I reset all my settings and no change yet. Hoping this is fixed soon we pay too much for ai to continue having basic issues

Someone in this thread suggested uninstalling the recent update and reinstalling version 30.0 instead (rolling back two versions), and that fixed everything. I wasn’t having any issues with C&P prints, CADs, or anything else after that. Thank you to whoever made that suggestion!!! You saved my Spring 2027 season

Our whole design team has been affected by this bug, please find a fix!

It makes working in illustrator much harder than it needs to be. And working with files created in the 2026 version of illustrator with the 2025 edition still causes the same issue, so we would have to either redo all our new files

i am having the same problem this is driving me NUTS! nothing is fixing it. I am also working in fashion design copying CADs from one file to another and the pattern fills are changing scale and changing direction when pasted in a new file causing me to have to go in and manually adjust them one by one. This is a massive waste of time.

I also work with fashion cads and have been having this issue for the last few weeks now, desperate for this to be fixed!

Another fashion designer here with the same problem. Also checked all settings, etc. Screenshot attached.

Going to uninstall & revert back to the previous version of Illustrator.

I am finding if I have the both files at the same zoom percentage the pattern scale stays correct/ doesn’t go rogue. Worth a try.
