symbols within brushes not updating

Hey all,

Hoping someone can help on this. I have used a symbol in a brush, and thought it was able to update the brush when I alter the symbol, so all brushes in document would update, but it doesn't. I have set the brush to dynamic. I was sure this function worked a few years ago, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. Hoping someone can explain if it is possible and if so why it isn't working.

Brushes as well as symbols are document based. So updating it in one document will not influence other documents. Also symbols and brushes are not interconnected. So updating a symbol will not affect a brush you have built with it.

Thanks for your reply and guidance. I was only wanting to update the same brush used within the same artboard document and not across all documents. I think I have a work around with using the swatch and pattern brush, so I can update the swatch instead. It seems a shame if the symbols editable function can't work in brushes but appreciate you letting me know. Many thanks
