I am having this same issue in Illustrator. The tmp files are being created when my ai files will not finish saving and then the project I am working on freezes up and I have to force quit. This is causing me to lose projects and having to force quit and restart Illustrator over and over.

Any suggestions on a reason or a fix?

Hello @Matthew30032268t2k9

I’m sorry to hear you’re having similar trouble with Illustrator. Would you mind confirming the exact version of the OS/Illustrator installed, and whether this happens with specific files or files stored in a particular folder location (internal/external/network drive or a cloud-synced folder like Dropbox/Google Drive/etc.) so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @djcyph84,

Thanks for reaching out. Illustrator creates these tmp files for auto-saving your file progress, and they will get removed as soon as you save your file/exit Illustrator. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or require assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Hey this is obviously a bug as it wasn't occuring before. Can we get a fix for this?

Agreed, these used to be hidden and out of the way tucked into a library folder. As of a few weeks ago, they're appearing right under the main file.
