Question

Text Boxes (Paragraphs) breaking into single line text boxes upon duplicating SVG file

I'm creating supplement and ingredient lists within Illustrator and saving them as SVGs. I'm pasting copy from a website into a paragraph box and ending up with a text box with multiple lines. I'm saving these as SVGs and when complete everything will be outlined for scalable web graphics.

In the meantime to save time, I'm duplicating SVG files with live text to easily create the other supplement and ingredient lists. The issue I'm running into is on the duplicate file, when I duplcate the SVG file (with live text) and open up the copy, my paragraph of text is no longer one editable text box, but rather each word and line is its own individual text box element.

I realize this issue doesn't happen if you save files as .ai and make duplicates (I just tried and I wasn't running into this issue). Is there a way to retain live text in SVG when duplicating files to keep the paragraph ONE editable text box rather than multiple lines?

SVG is not a suitable work file format. As long as you work with the file, simply don't save an SVG.

Also: read the documentation about the SVG options.
