Text characters (accents) not displaying properly in Illustrator

Illustrator isn't displaying the characters properly. For example this text W̱SÁNEĆ would drop the accent under the w and display it as W but in the character pannel is shows that the accent is there, it is doesn't display. The same text in pasted into InDesign displays properly. The typeface supports the extra character so it's not the font. Any idea what is going on here?

I have figured out what I needed to fix this: 

To recap for users wanting a quick answer:

1. Go to Illustrator > Preferences> Type> Select "Indic Languages"

2. Go to the fly-out menu for "Paragraph", select "Middle Eastern & South Asian Every-line Composer"
