Question

Text Disappeared from Back Panel – No Font Warning

Hi Adobe Support,

I’m experiencing an issue with a file I’ve used many times before in Illustrator. Upon opening it recently, I noticed that the text on the back panel has completely disappeared. Illustrator didn’t display any missing font warning, which I found odd.

I verified that the font is installed correctly on my system (Mac), and I even reinstalled it to be sure. I also closed Illustrator, installed the latest update, and restarted the program—but the issue persists.

Interestingly, the same file opens just fine on my coworker's PC, and the missing text appears as expected on their end. This leads me to believe it may be a Mac-specific issue.

Could you please help me troubleshoot this? I can share the file if needed.

What font is it? Is it one that was added from Adobe Fonts or a font file installed in the computer's OS or a font management app?

Before the font started malfunctioning do you recall doing any updates to the computer's operating system or updates to other applications? Sometimes font files can have bugs that may not reveal themselves until some type of software update triggers the font to misbehave.

It is Acumin Variable Concept - condensed.

I have not done any updates to the operating system or any other apps. And it was working fine yesterday, Which is throwing me off.

I have attached the file in case you want to look into it.

Thanks for the response!

Hello @Jammie5EFC,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. This seems very similar to an issue that our product team has recently fixed. Would you mind installing the latest version of Illustrator 29.7 to check if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
