Text fill not showing

Hi,

I'm trying to change the selected text and change it to solid fill. Except, once I've selected the fill colour in the Appearance section, the text doesn't change despite the panel saying its been applied (I'm in isolation mode).

I've tried restarting the app but I still have the same issue.

You probably used the new 3D and Materials effect and the tutorial used the Classic version (which did not have that name then).The classic can be found here:

According to the appearance panel it's an image not text.

Yes but a tutorial I'm trying to follow seemed to be able to change the colour without issue. I started out with regular text, then went to 3D Extrude, then tranformed via effects and finally Object and Expand Appearance. This is the step that I'm stuck at 😕😕
