Question

"Text Import Option" error message

I was saving a file in Illustrator 2021 when the electricity went out and my computer turned off. When I turned it on later and opened the file it had a "Text Import Option" error message. When I click "Ok" it opens a blank document.

I'm looking for solutions on the web, but nothing works , Is it possible to recover the file? It is a really important job

Thanks in advance

Hello @Minhaj26309931eghm,

Sorry to hear about this experience. As suggested by Mylenium and Monika, the chances of a file being recovered after a power failure are very slim. Would you mind sharing the file here or via DM so we can check it on our end? Although we cannot guarantee a successful recovery, we will try our best to do so.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Power outage while saving will pretty certainly roast a file. As Mylenium said, that's the reason why you should macke backups, lots of them. A new or additional hard drive is always cheaper than having to recreate a file. There's not a lot of hope for your file. Maybe you have already made a PDF of it to send to a client and can use that for rebuilding it?

@Anshul_Saini could you perhaps try and help with this file?

If all the tricks you found on the web and the AI online help to recover your file, then it is pretty much gone because the structural damage is too great. That's why it's always a good idea to save a copy/ backup every now and then. If you haven't tried this yet, you could attempt to install an alternate vector drawing program like Corel Draw. Perhaps it is able to at least recover parts of the artwork. Otherwise you shouldn't waste your time looking for magic solutions and just start over.
