Text on a path won't save on a path

I have a deisng that I've used the typle on a path feature. I save it but a couple days later I'll come back to the document and the typle on a path typing is gone and it appears as regular straight text so I keep having to redo it. The first couple times it happened I thought I had not done it thinking I had but I've tested and retested and it is in fact undoing the feature. Does anyone else know what could be causing this?

What version of Illustrator are you using?
ver.27 had a bug in Type-on-path. If you use ver.27, I recommended to update.
